Opening Weekend 2019

Greetings from Holly Berry Farm! Opening day is always a mixture of excitement and stress. Strawberry season is my favorite month of the year! I love talking to everyone who stops in and I want everyone who visits to go home happy. God blessed us with a beautiful Saturday. It was warm, but the breeze made it less noticeable! My parking lot was full by our opening of 9 am. We were picked out by 1 pm. We are having discussions on how to resolve that problem! But there are no quick solutions. Strawberries take a year to establish and the prep for the planting area begins the fall before. But we are working on expanding!!

I have some of the best Spencer County youth that come and pick, weed, plant, and make my life easier in so many ways! More on them in future posts!

After we picked the patch Saturday, we planted what will be our new berries for 2020. While I was disappointed that the rain kept us out of the patch today, another part of me was grateful for the rain that watered in the new plants and should get them off to a great start this week. Now we just want some sun though! Sun and a lovely breeze! If only I could put in my order for the perfect weather and have it work out that way…

We open again tomorrow morning! Looking forward to seeing you at the patch!
