The Unkind Side of Mother Nature

The other day I posted about my monarch caterpillar find in the milkweed. I was keeping tabs on my new hungry little caterpillar. On my most recent visit, I found a different resident….an assassin bug. While I’m normally ok with finding these, as they are generally considered a “good guy” in the garden, in this particular instance, it was a good guy gone rogue and my hungry little caterpillar became lunch for this guy. For more information on assassin bugs, see https://bygl.osu.edu/index.php/node/410 .

Picture is a little blurry as it was dusk and my photography skills are not always good.
